Therapy And Counseling Methods:
Congratulations! You've taken the most powerful--and sometimes hardest step--you are reaching out for help! What is more important than the quality of your life? Holly is here to help. Her results-oriented approach helps people overcome obstacles and achieve their goals.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Counseling
CBT teaches you to understand how your thoughts and feelings influence your behaviors, that then affect your feeling state. CBT is considered the gold standard method of therapy for many issues.

Action-Oriented Therapy and Counseling
This approach teaches you how to take action, rather than feeling like you need to be in therapy for 20 years before any change happens. You will learn tools that you can use between sessions so that you will know what to do when you feel bad.

EMDR Therapist and Counselor
EMDR uses bilateral brain stimulation (using eye movements, auditory tones and tactile stimulation) to help you resolve traumas and obstacles. It is among the most researched and proven of the new therapies. At the very least, it will bring up information that often would not be accessible using other treatment methods (or it would take a very long time to get there, and who wants that?). It works for most people, but not everyone, just like all forms of therapy. If it doesn't work for you, or you don't want to try it, that's fine. I am trained in many ways of working so we will use something else until we find what works for you.

Evidence-Based Behavioral-Practices
These methods are based on research, looking into what works, what doesn't, and how can we get you where you want to go the quickest way possible. This also takes into account how to prevent relapses, which is very important.

Interpersonal Neurobiological Psychotherapy
This is therapy using what we know about brain science to aid in effective methods. You will learn easy-to-understand workings of the brain so that you understand yourself better.

Supportive Therapy
Sometimes you need someone to listen and accept you just the way you are. There are some things in life that cannot be changed, and what you need is understanding, insight into how you feel and help managing difficult emotions.

Music
Music can be used therapeutically as a portal to insights. Music uses additional neural pathways compared to language alone.

Art Therapy and Counseling
Typically, art therapy is not my first choice of treatment. However, there are times that art therapy does what no other method can do. Because art simultaneously stimulates so many different parts of the brain, art therapy can engender insights and progress that may not be accessible in other modalities.

Happiness training!
Learning to be happy, fulfilled, content and satisfied. This is just as important as eliminating negative feelings. Being happy is wonderful!

Systems Therapy
This type of therapy keeps in mind that you cannot be understood without looking at how you connect to other systems around you (your family, friends, culture, colleagues, etc.) and that your family/friends are an emotional unit.
