* Art accesses a part of the brain where emotions and memories are processed and stored. So, if you are ever feeling “stuck” and cannot figure out what is going on with you through language alone, perhaps art therapy can help.
* Art therapy is not about making art that anyone will see, it’s about the emotional process of what happens while making the art that counts. After the art is made, then you and Holly will talk about the art and the process of making it to help you achieve insight.
* Art does not need to be made in every session, nor do you need to have any art skills whatsoever to use art therapy. It is amazing what can surface through the art!
* Children and adults alike respond very well to art therapy.
* Making art can help children create a bond with their therapist, and can help to promote solutions rather than the focus being only on the problem.
* One goal therapy is “neural integration”, which means building bridges and pathways between different parts of the brain to promote resiliency and mental health.
* Art is fun!
